Burns Permits
Burns Permits
This is a reminder that burn permits come into effect on April 15th and remain in effect till October 31st. Permits may be obtained at the NCID office on Yellow Point Road. They are free of charge.
Permits are suspended and burning must stop when the fire hazard reading reaches "[H]igh" or "[E]xtreme". The graphic in the top-right corner of the main ncid.bc.ca website will show the current rating, as will the sign in front of the main NCID office and the one at the Nanaimo River bridge.
Permits for slash and all other types of burning including piles that are larger than 6-feet by 6-feet in dimension are issued year-round through the BC Forest Service Fire Centre. For more information, call 1-888-797-1717.
