Earthquake Preparedness Seminar
Free Seminar at the NCFD Hall on Jun 9th
Do you know why earthquakes occur? Learn about the Pacific Rim "the rim of fire", plate tectonics and potential impact that earthquakes have had (and will have) on Vancouver Island.
Free up your evening calendar for Wednesday, June 9, 2010 when the Cedar Community Police, Regional District of Nanaimo and your North Cedar Fire Fighters are hosting this free workshop on earthquake preparedness.
In addition to learning about earthquakes and why some have a greater destructive power than others (i.e., Haitian quake versus the recent earthquake in Chili), you can also learn what role the RDN Emergency Services will play in the event of such a disaster. See the RDN Emergency Trailer and also take a tour of the North Cedar Fire Hall.
It's a great opportunity to assess your personal earthquake risks, what you can expect to happen during a tremblor and help you to develop your own family emergency preparedness plan (which includes planning for your pets)!
The seminar is free. The danger is real. Become informed and better prepared. Fire hall tours begin at 6 pm and the workshop starts at 7 pm. If you have any questions, contact the NCID staff or call (250) 722-3711.
