NCFD Donates $750 to Help Haiti
Members of the North Cedar Fire Department raised and donated $750 to help with Haitian Earthquake relief. As you are probably aware, Haiti was struck by a series of devastating earthquakes, early in January. Latest estimates put the death toll over 200,000 and rebuilding in this very poor island nation, will be difficult.
Of the $750 donated, $250 was given to a local Cedar family having ties and relatives, living near Port-au-Prince, the capital. The other $500 ($250 from North Cedar and $250 in matching Canadian Government funds) was donated to the Canadian Red Cross.
Residents are urged to donate and help the Haiti recover efforts. The current deadline for the matching program is February 12th.
